1950 — 1950- Doris Day, nationally famous Warner Brothers motion picture, & favorite recording radio star, selected by the Veterans of Foreign wars as their 1950 Buddy Poppy Girl, is a uniquely appropriate choice for the annual national sale of Buddy Poppies, made by disabled ex-service men, to raise funds for rehabilitation and welfare work. Her outstanding success despite a crippling accident in her ‘teens, is a strikig example of courage to « carry on ».
